About The Forum

The Forum is a JD Wetherspoon pub occupying a striking former cinema in Hexham's Market Place. The building was originally the Forum cinema, opened in 1937, and its Art Deco design remains part of the fabric of the pub. Original decorative features included low-relief modelling of Roman centurions driving chariots on the walls, floodlit from below, while the cinema was also fitted with a stage and professional lighting. The name itself nods to Hexham's Roman heritage, chosen in preference to an earlier proposal to call it the Savoy.

As with other pubs in the chain, the Forum offers a familiar range of food and drink throughout the day at accessible prices. Branch facilities include free Wi-Fi, television screens, baby-changing facilities and step-free access, making it a practical central meeting point in the town. Its position on the Market Place, close to the Abbey and other landmarks, keeps it busy with shoppers, visitors and locals.
