About The Heart of Northumberland
The Heart of Northumberland is a Grade II listed traditional pub on Market Street in the heart of Hexham. Once semi-derelict and closed for years, it was brought back to life through a major refurbishment, retaining wooden floors throughout and a large open fireplace in the back room, with a terrace to the rear. The result is a characterful, food-led pub that has earned national recognition, including being named runner-up as Best Place To Drink in the Observer Food Monthly Awards.
The kitchen serves pub classics and chef's specials made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, spanning light bites, hearty pub grub, bar snacks, children's meals and Sunday roasts, with a menu that changes seasonally. The bar offers local ales served from several handpumps. A small function room accommodating around thirty guests, complete with private bar, is available for private events, and tables can be reserved online.
