Open Mic & Live Music Nights in Hexham
Bluegrass sessions, pub busker nights, Italian restaurant live music, and Queen's Hall concerts — where to find live music in Hexham.
Hexham has a live music scene that belies its modest size.
The Grapes Hotel
The Grapes Hotel on St Mary's Chare is one of Hexham's longest-standing music pubs. A Craft Union venue, it runs regular live music alongside karaoke nights, DJ sets, and busker evenings. Opens until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays — the late-night option in town.
The Victorian Tap
The Victorian Tap on Battle Hill is a quality cask ale pub with a regular fixture: a bluegrass session on the second Wednesday of every month from 7pm. These monthly sessions have built a dedicated following among musicians and listeners. The pub also runs a Wednesday night quiz and a Friday bar DJ.
Vercelli Restaurant and Bar
Vercelli on Priestpopple regularly hosts live music on the first and last Saturday of each month, with the last Saturday featuring bottomless drinks alongside the music. The bar accommodates up to 250 guests for events.
Queen's Hall Arts Centre
For programmed concerts, Queen's Hall on Beaumont Street is in a different category. A 350-seat main theatre and 50-seat studio hosting folk, jazz, classical, world music, comedy, and singer-songwriter events. In 2022 the venue ran 387 live performances attracting over 32,000 people. Finding Out What's On
Check venue social media (The Grapes and Victorian Tap post on Facebook), the Queen's Hall website, and the Hexham Courant. Hexham is small enough that asking in any of these venues will get you an honest answer.
