About Hexham Library

Hexham Library is the town's public library, housed within Queen's Hall on Beaumont Street, a Grade II listed Victorian building constructed in 1866 in the Italianate style as the former Hexham Town Hall. Run by Northumberland County Council, it shares the building with the arts centre's theatre, exhibition spaces and café, placing it at the heart of Hexham's cultural quarter. The library provides a welcoming, accessible space for readers, students and families across the Tyne Valley, with a dedicated children's area among its facilities.

Alongside book, audiobook and reference lending, the library offers free computer and Wi-Fi access, and staff on hand to help with reading recommendations and family and local history research. It hosts children's activities and community events, and provides business and intellectual property support through a BIPC Local service. As a branch of the Northumberland library network, members can access and reserve stock from libraries across the county, making it a valuable resource for learning, research and community connection in west Northumberland.
