About Core Music

Core Music is a community music hub run as a social enterprise and Community Interest Company at 14 a/b Gilesgate in central Hexham. Describing itself as a safe and supportive space for musicians of all ages across the Tyne Valley, it has recently moved away from retail to concentrate on active music-making, building a collective of professional musicians and creating pathways for new, returning and would-be professionals.

The hub offers one-to-one and group tuition on instruments and voice, alongside sessions and workshops, and its practitioners hold enhanced DBS certificates and professional qualifications. It also runs a professional community recording studio and provides instrument repair and servicing through its Monday Night Repair Club, as well as hosting performances and community events. This mix of teaching, recording and repair under one roof makes it a distinctive local resource for musicians in Hexham and the wider valley.
