Hexham.live·

Rainy days, cold afternoons, and the need to burn off energy indoors — soft play centres earn their keep in the North East.

Wentworth Leisure Centre — Jungle Jacks

The obvious first stop is Jungle Jacks at Wentworth Leisure Centre. This three-storey castle-themed soft play opened in 2023 and is designed for children up to ten, with a dedicated toddler zone. The adjacent HIVE cafe gives parents a comfortable spot with clear sightlines. Sessions must be booked in advance via the Places Leisure app. Also available for birthday party hire.

Brocksbushes Play Barn, Corbridge — ~10 Minutes

Brocksbushes Farm on the A69 near Corbridge opened a brand new Play Barn in July 2024 — one of the biggest soft play facilities in Northumberland. Four levels of climbing structures, slides, rope swings, ball pits, and trampolines, plus an outdoor play area. The wider farm has a farm shop, pick-your-own fruit in season, and a cafe — making it a natural full-day destination. Very popular at weekends and school holidays.

Prudhoe Waterworld — ~15 Minutes

Along the A695, Prudhoe Waterworld offers woodland-themed soft play with slides, balance beams, and climbing apparatus. Sessions run for 75 minutes at £4.50 per child (ages 1-8). Bookable via the Places Leisure app. Families can combine a swim with the soft play visit.

Which Should You Choose?

For a quick local session, Jungle Jacks at Wentworth is the most convenient. For a day out with more to do, Brocksbushes is hard to beat. Prudhoe Waterworld is best when you want to pair soft play with a swim. All three use a booking system.
