Ladies Day -- Hexham Racecourse

Sunday 21 June (Father's Day) at Hexham Racecourse. The highlight of the local weekend. Ladies Day is one of the most popular fixtures of the season, combining a full card of National Hunt racing with fashion competitions, live entertainment, and a buzzing atmosphere 800 feet above the Tyne Valley. It falls on Father's Day this year, so you can treat dad to a day at the races while enjoying the occasion yourself. Book in advance as it sells out.

The Gasps and Giggles Show -- Queen's Hall

Sunday 21 June at Queen's Hall. A family-friendly comedy show right in the heart of Hexham. Queen's Hall is one of the best small arts venues in the North East, and this Sunday afternoon show is ideal if you are looking for something fun to do on Father's Day that the whole family can enjoy.

The Hoppings 2026

Running until Sunday 28 June on Town Moor, Newcastle. Europe's largest travelling funfair is in full swing on Newcastle's Town Moor. Blyth Live 2026

Saturday 20 June at Blyth. A free outdoor music festival on the Blyth coast with live bands, food stalls, and a proper seaside atmosphere. About an hour from Hexham but well worth the trip for a full day of live music by the sea.

Morris Car Rally -- Beamish

Alnmouth Arts Festival

From Saturday 20 June at Alnmouth. The coastal village of Alnmouth opens its doors for a weekend arts festival with exhibitions, open studios, and workshops. A beautiful setting on the Northumberland coast, about 45 minutes from Hexham.

Yesterbus Classic Rally -- Locomotion

Sunday 21 June at Locomotion, Shildon. Vintage buses descend on the National Railway Museum at Shildon for the Yesterbus Classic Rally. A treat for transport enthusiasts of all ages, with heritage vehicles on display and demonstration rides.
