About Hexham

Hexham is a historic market town in the heart of the Tyne Valley, often described as the gateway to Hadrian's Wall country. Its roots stretch back over 1,300 years to the founding of Hexham Abbey by St Wilfrid in 674 AD.

The town is known for its thriving independent shops, its twice-weekly market, and the Queen's Hall arts centre. Surrounded by the rolling hills of Tynedale and within easy reach of Hadrian's Wall, Hexham attracts visitors and residents who value history, countryside, and a strong sense of community.
