Charity Shops in Hexham
Oxfam, Cancer Research UK, RSPCA, Save the Children, and Relate — a guide to the charity shops in Hexham.
Hexham has a strong concentration of charity shops, most within a short walk of the Market Place.
Oxfam
Centrally located, selling clothes, homewares, toys, Fairtrade food, and eco-friendly products. Good for book hunting with a strong fiction and non-fiction selection.
Cancer Research UK
Near Battle Hill, a short walk from the Market Place. Accepts clothing, accessories, books, games, and homeware. Many CRUK shops now have a Boutique rail of higher-quality items.
RSPCA Northumberland West
4 Newman Row, Battle Hill, NE46 1BB. One of the RSPCA's longest-established shops. Sells clothing, books, music, homewares, and bric-a-brac. Strong community following. Phone: 01434 608020.
Save the Children
A community-run shop with good-quality donated clothing, accessories, and gifts. The community model means the stock reflects local donations — often very good quality. Phone: 01434 605387.
Relate
4 St Mary's Wynd, NE46 1LW. Proud of its bric-a-brac, antiques, and collectibles alongside clothing and books. A short lane off the Market Place, easy to include in a town-centre circuit. Phone: 01434 602014.
The Circuit
All five shops are within a 10-minute walk. Start at Oxfam, loop down Battle Hill for Cancer Research UK and the RSPCA, cut back through the lanes to St Mary's Wynd for Relate, finishing near the Market Place.
Donating
All shops accept clean, good-quality clothing, books, and homewares. For furniture, the British Heart Foundation operates a collection service covering the North East — check bhf.org.uk.
